Destineer's MacSoft unit has announced that a Mac iteration of Railroad Tycoom 3 is now shipping.
In the Sim-style game, players recreate history by building the ultimate railroad empire. Beside the tracks cities grow into thriving metropolises and their prosperity depends on decisions made about acquiring other businesses, dominating industries, and manipulating the stock market.
The game requires Mac OS X v10.2.8 or higher, 400MHz G4 or faster processor (800MHz recommended), 256MB RAM, 32MB or higher (NVIDIA GeForce 2/ATI Radeon recommended) video card, 120MB free hard drive space, and an 8X CD-ROM drive. A local area network or Internet connection is required for multi-player (56Kbps modem or faster). It costs $50. UK pricing to be confirmed.
MacSoft has also released a patch for Unreal Tournament 2004, just a day after the same patch was released for Windows users.
The 3323 patch adds tweaks, bug fixes and gameplay upgrades to the popular game, which shipped simultaneously on the Mac and Windows earlier this year.
The upgrade also includes improvements to the networking code. The game engine has been tweaked and the level editor now has additional functionality.
Unreal Tournament is a 3D, first person action game that features land, air and space vehicles of varying sizes along with an array of weapons, arenas, epic battlefields and the challenge of the Assault and Onslaught game types.
The Mac patch will install over any previous retail version, including an unpatched installation or any beta patches (such as 3229), and contains all previous patch fixes. It will not upgrade the ut2004 demo, nor any version of ut2003.
