Last night saw the annual Macworld awards, at which the cream of the UK Mac community picked up the industry's most sought-after awards for excellence.

The lavish event was staged at the East Wintergarden, in London's Canary Wharf, with Macworld editor David Fanning hosting the ceremony.

Unfortunately not everybody who attended the awards could be a winner, all full list of all the nominees can be found here.

Award theft shocker!

Some attendees were so keen to get their hands on an award that they resorted to criminal tactics - Macworld has received reports that one of the must-have awards was stolen, soon to appear on eBay, perhaps.

Those who did collect awards were in high spirits. On collecting Alias' award, in Animation and 3D category, Mark Pammenter director of entertainment at Alias told Macworld: "We’re thrilled to receive this award. It reaffirms Alias’ commitment to making Maya 3D animation software easily available to animators and creatives whose platform of choice is the Mac. It’s also a great reward for our R&D teams who have worked so hard to bring Maya to the global Mac community."
