Following the success of Apple's easy-to-use iMovie digital video-editing application (now at version 2), the company may release at least one of its planned new software programs at next week's Macworld Expo in San Francisco. One of these – probably free – applications is expected to be a music-editing/creation program, possibly called iMusic.

Back in October 2000, during Apple's final-quarter financial announcement, Apple CEO Steve Jobs promised that the company would deliver two innovative new software products in 2001.

"We're really excited about these products – they will allow consumers to do things that they cannot on other platforms," said Jobs.

If released at Expo, iMusic would likely be bundled with all new Macs – in the same way that iMovie 2 is now.
