ArtMatic Pro 2.0 - which creates picture textures, animations and sound - will be launched at Macworld, San Francisco.

The $180 application generates graphics and sound using a tree of tiles that represent mathematical functions.

Trees are data structures where each element is attached to an element directly beneath it.

Keyframes Each function of the tree can be chosen randomly or be selected by the user. All tiles have their own settings that change across keyframes.

ArtMatic Pro 2.0 can be used to design CD covers, cards, flyers and filters.

New to the application, developed by U&I Software, are graphics and sound synthesis functions, keyframe-based animation, structure editing and the ability to manipulate existing movies and pictures.

Macworld Expo, San Francisco, starts on Tuesday, January 9. Macworld will be there to bring you all the news as it happens. Go to Macworld.co.uk/sf2001 for all the latest developments.
