Michael Eisner's Disney may be giving Mickey Mouse new friends, in the shape of Jim Henson’s frog and a fat pig – Kermit and Miss Piggy – after the end of its marriage to Pixar; But Apple/Pixar CEO Steve Jobs is taming the lion, as Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer courts his animation firm.

MGM is working to convince Pixar that it would be the best distribution partner for its animated movies. MGM vice chairman and chief operating officer Chris McGurk confirmed: "We have spoken to Pixar and we do intend to speak with them again very soon."

MGM is attempting to convince Pixar that a distribution deal between the two makes sense, particularly as it has no animated films on its books.
