Microsoft has officially killed Internet Explorer for Mac.

The company will end support for the application on December 31, making no additional security or performance updates available for the software.

And on January 31 2006, Internet Explorer will no longer be available for download from Microsoft.

"On June 2003, the Microsoft Macintosh Business Unit announced that Internet Explorer for Mac would undergo no further development, and support would cease in 2005," the company says on its website.

The company recommends Mac users migrate to "more recent Web browsing technologies", such as Safari.
