Microsoft will today announce plans to bring Exchange Server support to Mac OS X and Entourage.

Microsoft product manager Jessica Sommer told

The support will let Entourage-owning Mac users access the features of Exchange ? including shared calendaring.

Other features include a directory-service look-up feature, and the ability to synch Entourage's calendar and address book with the Exchange server for offline use and better text rendering when reading mail from Outlook for Windows users.

The update will be released in summer 2003 and be compatible with versions of Exchange 2000 and higher.

The company also revealed it would no longer offer updates to Outlook 2001 for Mac OS 9.

"Entourage has been chosen as the Exchange client for the Mac platform," Sommer said.
