Brother announced HL-5070N - its Rendezvous-compliant network laser printer - at Macworld Expo yesterday.
The monochrome printer delivers up to 17 pages per minute and is set to ship in February. It replaces the HL-1470N.
Using Rendezvous, the printer can automatically discover and connect to other devices over any IP network - including Ethernet and 802.11 wireless networking. Apple introduced Rendezvous as a system-level feature of Mac OS X 10.2 in September 2002.
The HL-5070N ships with 10/100 BaseT Ethernet built-in, it also sports USB 2.0 and Parallel interfaces and supports Internet Printing Protocol. It will cost $499 in the US. UK pricing remains to be announced.
The device delivers up to 17ppm at up to 2,400-x-600dpi with 16MB (up to 144MB accommodated) of on-board memory. It ships with a 250-sheet paper feeder.
