Microsoft has announced Windows Media Player for Mac OS X.

This Carbonized version of Microsoft's streaming-media solution takes advantage of Mac OS X's multiprocessing features, claims Microsoft. It sports an Aqua user interface.

This version supports Microsoft's Digital Rights Management (DRM) copyright-protection technology. DRM has been adopted by Universal and Sony's online music venture, PressPlay.

The application will be available for free download from Microsoft over the next few weeks. It was previewed during Microsoft's keynote speech at Macworld Expo yesterday.
