Roxio is demonstrating its newest version of Toast with Jam (version 6) at Macworld Expo.

Toast with Jam has built itself a reputation over the years as a tool for arranging and mastering pro audio CDs on Macs. This iteration of the product adds DVD authoring to the mix, as well as all the features present in the recently released Toast 6.

The product offers three key upgrade focuses: Jam 6 lets users create DJ-style mixes and professional-quality CD masters. The collection also ships with pro audio application, Peak Express, which lets its users edit and enhance files and soundtracks for their iMovies, and also offers access to a selection of pre-supplied plug-ins. The package includes a Hollywood-standard Dolby Digital Encoder for DVD authoring. Toast with Jam also offers CD Spin Doctor 2 (for digitizing non-digital sounds such as LPs), Deja Vu backup software, and Discus Re labeling software.

Advanced users can exploit the software to create Red Book-compliant audio CDs, which can be dispatched to pressing plants for reproduction. It offers crossfades between tracks and the capacity to set the gain for each channel of the track.

The product has been designed to integrate with Apple's iLife applications package – it is possible to drag-&-drop photos and video between Apple's and Roxio's applications, for example. It also extends Apple's products, enabling users to easily burn movies in Video CD, Super Video CD and DVD formats. The Toast 6 element of the product harnesses Rendezvous so users can share CD or DVD burners across networks or the Internet with other Toast users. Toast is also accessible from the desktop as a contextual menu item.

A Power Mac G3 or G4 or higher are recommended. Toast with Jam works with Mac OS X 10.2 or above and requires 200MB of hard drive space. While the software can support nearly all forms of CD and DVD (both + and -), the internal SuperDrives Apple ships as standard can only handle DVD-RAM.

It ships in the US in February, and reaches Europe and Asia the following month. While final shipping price isn't available, a reduced price upgrade path for existing Toast 6 Titanium customers will be announced.
