Myth III: The Wolf Age for the Mac is mere weeks away from release, the publishers claim.

Last week, Macworld reported that some last minute hitches had delayed the Mac version of the much anticipated title.

Myth III is the prequel to the two previous games. It's set 1,000 years before the first Myth. The storyline features Connacht the Wolf, a hero of such great stature the entire age has been named after him.

Myth and legend Connacht is allied with the Fallen Lords of Myth II. The Fallen Lords are still champions of good at this time. The game explores the battles between the races that took place at this time, offering players the chance to take part in the battles that make up the legends behind the previous games.

Features of Myth III include over 40 unique units, each with their own distinctive attacks and spells, and 25 single-player levels. Players hold sieges, defend fortresses and explore labyrinthine dungeons.

The game offers multiplayer support courtesy of Gamespy.com. Players can battle each other in a series of specially designed contests.

Developers Mumbo Jumbo say: "The game sets new standards for 3D real-time strategy games through the use of true 3D characters, procedural foliage, deformable terrain and an engrossing story." The title is optimized for Altivec and Mac OS X - Mac OS X will deliver the best experience when playing the game, the publishers promise.

The title will cost £39.99, and will be distributed in the UK by Softline.
