A new solution to integrate video tape with modern digital processes appeared at the National Association of Broacasters (NAB) trade show this week.
Popwire's new Ingest Engine 1.0 product is a solution for moving tape-based content to the digital workflow.
The software lets users import tape-based video into digital high resolution formats such as: MPEG-2, DV, MPEG-4 Proxy, PBF or Uncompressed 4:2:2.
Ingest Engine is a client/server solution. This means that several clients can work with importing and storing the media on one central server that is also hooked up to the tape player and where the actual importing takes place. Users need just one powerful server, one interface between the tape player and the server and the tape player.
There's no limit on the number of servers that can be supported by the client software. Each server can handle one video adaptor and Ingest Engine currently supports the AJA Io series of video capture units.
The product price hasn't yet been disclosed.
