Two new events for iDJs have been announced, one in London UK and another in Philadelphia.
London's Playlist Club holds its next club night on May 21 at The Progress Bar in Tufnell Park. The club's US affiliate, Playlist Philadelphia, takes place May 23 at The Khyber. Admission to both events is free.
The Times recently described these clubs as a: "Newly democratic way to decide what a dancefloor will be listening to".
These digital music clubs invite music lovers to turn up with a 15-minute set of their best tunes on an iPod (or other digital music player) to play their songs through the club PA. DJs are welcome to play their own music and mixes, the audience and judges decide who wins.
Playlist says: "Critics say anyone can string some tunes together, but can they connect with the crowd? With or without vinyl, the skill remains the same, and that's the Playlist challenge - to get a crowd moving, to touch what they need, and to show an original flair."
