As critics observe that Apple's iMac range is beginning to adversely affect the company's financial results, the company has come clean with its plans.
A statement on Apple's Web site says: "Apple has stopped taking orders for the current iMac as we begin the transition from the current iMac line to an all-new iMac line which will be announced and available in September."
The company's statement adds a little weight to rumours that it intended announcing a new iMac more recently: "We planned to have our next generation iMac ready by the time the inventory of current iMacs runs out in the next few weeks, but our planning was obviously less than perfect. We apologize for any inconvenience to our customers."
Rumours surrounding the nature of the new range have also begun to emerge, but Apple has dismissed these as "pure speculation".
