Apple has launched .Mac Slides Publisher – a new service for .Mac members.

.Mac Slides Publisher lets .Mac members publish image collections as screensavers. Using drag-&-drop, the service takes images, transfers them to iDisk and turns them into a screensaver that can be viewed by any OS X 10.2 user. Users can also subscribe to a slideshow collections, and will be notified when a collection is updated.

The company has also released Backup 1.2, a revised version of the Backup software automatically available to OS X .Mac subscribers. The updated application lets users back up to multiple CDs and DVDs, offers improved performance and an updated user interface.

.Mac is Apple's online Web-services suite, and replaces iTools. It costs $99.95 per year.
