New business start-up, Orb Networks, has announced a new service that lets its users access their digital media files remotely using any Internet-enabled device.
In theory, subscribers to the service can watch standard television transmissions using their PDA, or iTunes music through their mobile phone. It works by taking files stored on home computers and streaming these to Web-capable devices.
The company says iTunes downloads can be shared using the service. While the company anticipates opposition from the music and movie industries, it claims to have worked closely with lawyers to ensure the legality of the service.
The service is currently Windows-only.
