Olympus has released the Camedia C-700 Ultra Zoom digital camera.

Dubbed by the company as the "world's smallest 10x optical camera", it has a 3.8cm colour TFT monitor to frame subjects.

The electronic viewfinder displays the exact image captured by the camera's 2.1 million pixel 1-x-2.7-inch CCD (charge-couple device). The viewfinder also displays photographic data.

An F2.8 lens offers a focal-length equivalent to 38-380mm on a conventional 35mm camera. Aperture- and Shutter-priority modes select the desired shutter speed.

Other features include multimedia capabilities, manual controls and a number of metering options. Priced at £599, the digital camera will be available later this month.
