Palm has updated its Mac OS Palm Desktop software to version 2.6.3.

The software enables a Palm and a Mac system to communicate with each other. Mac users can access the same functions on their Mac as on their Palm handheld, and data can be synched between the two platforms.

This latest version adds support for Palm OS 4.0.It is also capable of communicating with Palm's newly-adopted Secure Digital MultiMedia storage cards.

Palm recommends that upgrades to the 2.6.3 version should only be made by users of the new Palm OS 4.0-based PDAs, such as the m500 or m505. The 2.6.3 update is available as a free download.
