Canto will debut its PDF AssetStore module, which extends Cumulus 5's feature set, at media-publishing show Seybold, which runs from September 24 to 28 in San Francisco.

Cumulus 5 is an archiving system for multimedia data. It manages and publishes media assets such as images, layouts, presentations, video, audio and text. The add-on is compatible with the Cumulus 5 product-line, which includes Single User, Workgroup and Enterprise Editions.

PDF files can be created from catalogued records in Cumulus. The add-on also makes thumbnails of the PDF, and creates previews that can be displayed in Acrobat Reader.

The PDF AssetStore Option costs $249 per machine, and will be available from the start of October through Canto's Web site.

Gute idee Canto will also announce a partnership with Idee at Seybold that will integrate Idee's Espion Visual Search into Cumulus 5. The Espion Visual Search Option is a fully integrated add-on that performs visual searches within a Cumulus catalogue.

Espion will search for images that are visually similar to another. This add-on is available for both the Workgroup and Enterprise Editions of Cumulus 5. It will ship by the end of the year and is Mac OS X compatible. A copy can be purchased from Idee. Pricing has yet to be announced.
