Synthetic Aperture has updated its Echo Fire video-previewing plug-in for Adobe After Effects and Photoshop.

Version 1.1 offers real-time video previewing in After Effects, it can show work on a video monitor, and offers the option to preview from disk - reducing the need for huge amounts of RAM.

Support for additional video-output cards – such as Media 100 and the Igniter and Fuse cards from Aurora Video Systems – is also included.

Other enhancements include a screen previewer to provide video-preview capability to many applications, drag-&-drop utilities to streamline the image-creation workflow, enhanced title overlays and additional image scaling options.

Echo Fire 1.1 is compatible with Adobe After Effects 4.0 and later, and Photoshop 5.0 and later. It needs Mac OS 8.1 or later and QuickTime 4. UK pricing and distribution has not been announced, but the software is available from synthetic.com, and costs $255.
