Apple is endowing .Mac subscribers with a free gift.

The company is offering members a free copy of ArcSoft's PhotoStudio X. The application offers several image-editing features, including the capacity to remove backgrounds, add text. It usually costs $79.99.

The software offers basic photo-editing along with advanced tools including clone, red-eye removal and stitch, and a selection of artistic effects.

PhotoStudio X’s Album Palette lets users access multiple images at once on the desktop. It creates custom photo albums to display, sort, or search images. Additional features include multiple undo and redo, a layers palette, the capacity to add text to images, and batch-processing.

The software can open images from disk drives and import images from digital cameras and scanners.

Apple is offering .Mac members an additional benefit: a $10 discount on the purchase of ArcSoft's Panorama Maker, which merges three or more pictures into a panoramic image. It costs $29.99, rather than its regular $39.99 price. Both offers are available until February 18, 2004.
