Apple CEO Steve Jobs' other company, Pixar yesterday posted second-quarter earnings of $8.8 million – a ten per cent increase on the year-ago figure.

Film revenues for the second quarter were $14.7 million, including money made from licensing A Bug's Life to ABC. The company has had no major film release this year - but has scheduled its next movie "Monsters, Inc" for release in November.

Jobs said: "Monsters, Inc. is a wonderful film, and our marketing efforts are now in full swing for its November 2nd release.

The New York Institute of Technology will present Dr Edwin Catmull, president of Pixar Animation Studios, with its President's Medal for Arts and Technology on August 12. This award is presented to mark outstanding contributions to education, arts and technology.
