UK iPod peripheral maker Podgear has changed its name to Gear4.
The company says the name change reflects its plans to launch accessories for other MP3 players.
Tom Dudderidge, managing director of Disruptive Technology Channels (the company behind PodGear), said: "PodGear accessories have become a hit around the world (now being sold in over 20 countries). It works brilliantly as an iPod accessories name, but is limiting because it is so obviously iPod-related. The move to Gear4 is intended to enable other digital accessories to be sold alongside the iPod products."
"There are plenty more exciting and unique products in the pipeline; all to be announced later in spring 2006," the company promised.
