Terra Soft has released Yellow Dog Linux 2.0 for PowerPC systems.

It offers an improved installer and a simplified booting procedure. The operating system supports most modern Linux standards, including Mozilla, Open Office and Java.

The company has also simplified the Mac-on-Linux application that enables classic Mac OS to run within Linux. The new iteration will support Apple's current crop of products, including PowerBook G4s and AirPort wireless networking.

The manufacturer claims its Linux-based solution offers an alternative upgrade path for owners of legacy (pre-G3) Power Macs.

Yellow Dog Linux 2.0 is available online through Terra Soft's store. It costs $59.95 plus shipping.
