Multimedia projector manufacturers Proxima and InFocus are to merge, the companies announced yesterday.

US company InFocus is to take over Norwegian rival Proxima, after which InFocus shareholders will own 62 per cent of the new company, and Proxima shareholders about 38 per cent.

The new company, which will be called InFocus, will continue to market multimedia solutions under all three of its brand names – InFocus, Proxima and Ask.

The transaction has been approved by the Board of Directors of both companies, and is expected to be completed in the second quarter of 2000, subject to standard conditions.
