Psion and Motorola are to co-develop a range of mobile Internet-access devices. The companies will jointly design and develop Wireless Information Devices for use on cellular networks worldwide.

A joint-development team has already been set up, with the first product expected "in the first half of 2001". Products developed under the non-exclusive agreement will be marketed separately by Motorola and Psion.

Motorola's senior vice president and general manager, Frank Lloyd, said: "With Psion’s mobile computing experience and Motorola’s leading-edge wireless technology, we will be able to offer powerful and desirable mobile-Internet products."
