Wired Magazine has nominated Apple's Industrial Design team for a RAVE award in recognition for its work on the LCD iMac.

The magazine's RAVE Awards recognize innovation and the individuals transforming commerce and culture.

Nominees in thirteen categories were selected by a panel of judges, including: Simpsons creator Matt Groening; architect Frank Gehry; Sun's Bill Joy; MTV networks president Judy McGrath and Wired editors.

The awards will be presented January 13.

In related news, Apple's head of industrial design Jonathan Ive is in the running for BBC Online's Newsmaker of the Year award. He currently stands third in a field of four for the title, hot on the heels of Ozzy Osbourne and way behind Michael Moore. Sports 'personality' Gary Lineker is fourth.
