Quark has withdrawn from the UK's independently-organized and Apple-supported MacExpo.

Citing the need to cut costs in response to economic conditions, Quark corporate communications manager Glen Turpin told Macworld: "We regret that Quark won't be able to attend MacExpo. We have every faith in the event, and wish for a very successful show."

He said the company's commitment to the Mac community is "firm", and added that it will "continue to be the leading provider of page-layout software to the Mac community for many years to come".

Macworld will update this story as further news emerges.
