Quark has announced a special pricing deal on QuarkXPress for educators and students that will be available until October 31.

The company says the deal "allows educational users to purchase XPress 6 with maximum convenience at an affordable price".

Accredited schools with courses that require XPress can also purchase the software in a heavily discounted Lab-Pak configuration of ten or more users.

Computers Unlimited director of business development Alan Clarke said: "It's vital that software companies continue to support the educational market, and as such we heartily welcome Quark's positive moves in this area.

"The promotion makes this industry-leading page-layout software accessible to a wide range of educational users, and we look forward to helping Quark promote the new pricing through our specialist educational resellers."

Quark has also begun signing distribution agreements with educational resellers to allow on-campus sales of XPress, which it calls a sign of the company's "commitment to improving customer service around the world".

To qualify for the student discount, students must be enrolled full-time at an accredited school, and must provide ID. Teachers must also prove they teach at an accredited school.

The education prices are: Full product for instructors or students, £130;
upgrade for instructors or students, £113; full product Lab-Pak per seat, £67; and upgrade Lab-Pak per seat, £58.
