Quark today announced a revised and more relaxed policy for single-user licenses.
The company will now allow QuarkXPress 6 owners to install and activate their software on a second computer at no extra cost. Until now, users have been unable to do this.
Quark vice president of operations Monique Wirz-Grutter said: "Quark is completely committed to improving our customer service. This is one of the many ways that we're actively responding to customer requests and trying to help our customers be more efficient.
"Whether you travel across the globe or simply want to work at home, you will always have convenient access to QuarkXPress, the industry-leading design and layout software," she said.
The move means the primary registered user of XPress 6 can now install, activate and use the software on two computers – as long as they are both on the same platform. Activation of the second computer can be conducted online.
The new policy replaces the Quark Mobile Licensing program. Existing customers of that program can request a coupon that will apply to the purchase of Quark software or services, the company said.
News of these plans first emerged during last month's Quark Summit.
