Apple has released QuickTime 7.0.3, an essential update for video support in iTunes 6 - and movie makers should upgrade now to QuickTime Pro to create films for the new video iPod.

Apple has published a tutorial to help movie makers create video podcasts - viewable through iTunes and on video iPods - using the new version of QuickTime Pro.

In general, the new QuickTime update "delivers several important bug fixes, primarily in the areas of streaming and H.264 video," Apple said. It is recommended for all QuickTime 7 users.

The 34MB update is available through Software Update.
