Extensis has released Pro Photo RAW Image filter for Portfolio 6. The upgrade is free for registered Portfolio users.

Armed with the update, users can preview, sort and archive RAW images with no need to convert into a different format for archiving. The update also adds EXIF metadata from RAW files.

Extensis senior product manager Joseph Schorr said: "Adding support for these RAW formats makes Portfolio an ideal tool for professional photographers. They can now go directly from camera to Portfolio, where they can preview, keyword, organize and sort thousands of images without getting bogged down in a lengthy conversion process."

The RAW format preserves 100 per cent of the colour and tonal data captured by a digital camera in an uncompressed, lossless form. This data can be converted into other formats.

The update is available from the Extensis Web site.
