Apple is reportedly working on a successor to its education-focused eMac line.

AppleInsider claims the new low cost Mac will ship later this year, potentially in September. The new Mac will use standard components to keep costs low.

The new Mac will be an all-in-one offering featuring an LCD screen, it claims. This will make the product lighter, cheaper to freight from place-to-place, and also save money in making the enclosure for the machine.

The report also claims a summer launch for a replacement desktop Power Mac, potentially to be called the Mac Pro.
