Mitsubishi Electric has filed a lawsuit in the Tokyo District Court against SanDisk (Japan), alleging patent infringement, both parties confirmed today.

The complaint alleges SanDisk is infringing on three Mitsubishi Electric patents and seeks a preliminary injunction to bar the sale of SanDisk's CompactFlash and flash ATA cards in Japan.

The three patents are related primarily to the mechanical construction of memory cards built with a separate connector, Sandisk said in a statement.

Both companies declined to comment on the lawsuit.
