Corel is preparing to release CorelDraw Graphics Suite 11 in July in the US, and September in the UK.

The product is the company's flagship design suite, offering software for use in graphic design, page layout, image editing and vector animation.

The product has been reworked, introducing a slew of new features in response to customer feedback. With CorelDraw 11, the collection offers Corel Photo-Paint 11, Corel Rave 2, and is purpose-built for creating content for print and the Web.

Annette McCleave, executive vice-president of marketing at Corel, said: “Creating content can be a complex task and version 11 changes that by making graphic design as intuitive as possible, helping designers to visualize ideas and achieve a new level of satisfaction with their work.”

Each application within the suite offers new features.

Graphic design and page-layout application, CorelDraw 11 offers a number of new features, including symbols support to help use and reuse design elements; pressure-sensitive roughen and smudge brushes for editing curves; and three-point ellipse, rectangle and curve tools. There is also enhanced scaleable vector-graphic support, customizable workspaces, and a new polyline tool that creates curves and lines in a single stroke.

Corel Photo-Paint 11 is an image-editing suite for photo manipulation, and introduces a new CutOut tool for masking complex objects; enhanced image stitching for panorama creation; tools for image slicing for Web page creation; new rollover creation; and red-eye removal tools.

Corel Rave 2, a Web graphics and animation creation tool, offers symbol effects, which reduces the size of Flash files; enhanced Behaviour support to add interactivity to Flash animations; and Tween tools to add advanced text-transitions; and effects.

The suite ships with optical character recognition application, ScanSoft OmniPage SE; Insider Software's Font Reserve for Mac OS X.

The suite also includes CorelTrace, an application that traces bitmaps to convert them into vector images.

Detailed information about the product is available on Corel's Web site. It is set to cost $529. An upgrade path is available for users of earlier versions of the suite. UK pricing hasn't yet been announced.
