Skype released a Universal version of its telephony software last night.

Skype for Mac runs natively on PowerPC and Intel-based Macs, and also introduces better performance and a new feature called Web presence, which allows users to showcase their online status on the Web or in an email signature.

To activate Web presence, users must download the new software and then tick the box in the Privacy setting in Preferences to say 'Allow my status to be shown on the Web'.

Skype also lets users forward calls to other Skype Names or regular phones. A Traditional Chinese version of the new Mac software is also available.
