An OS X-native version of Snapz Pro - the popular screenshot tool - will be released on July 17, Ambrosia Software has announced.

Snapz Pro will grab anything from a Mac's screen, capturing it as a picture file or QuickTime movie.

Two versions are available – the $29 version offers image-capture only, while the $49 version adds movie-capture capabilities. An upgrade path for existing users wanting to move to OS X is available. This costs $19 for image capture, or $39 for movie capture.

Ambrosia has added new features to the application, including support for additional file formats, including Windows BMP, Adobe Photoshop and PDF. Automatic thumbnail-generation is also in place, and images can be watermarked with copyright notices, logos or Web badges.

Also new in this version is an Objects tool that enables multiple on-screen objects – such as two windows, or a window and a menu – to be grabbed in a single command. This major upgrade also makes it possible to add a variety of borders to images.
