Native Instruments has released a free audio synthesizer, called the NI/Soundforum synth, reports CreativeMac.

The application features a full range of music-making and editing tools – including modulators, oscillators and resonance tools. Soundforum can control sound resonance, and alter sound wave forms, and all the elements of the application can be managed by MIDI controllers, such as external MIDI keyboards.

The synthesizer was developed by Stephan Schmitt and Peter Gorges. It's compatible with Apple's Sound Manager Control Panel. It requires Mac OS 8.5 or better, a PowerPC 604e or better processor and 32MB RAM. Soundforum is available for download from Native Instruments.
