London Apple retailer Square Group has acquired Creatives Connect, an Apple reseller and maintenance provider.

Square will acquire all of Creatives Connect's contracts and staff from October 1 2004.

Creatives Connect used remote virtual private network (VPN) technology to manage its customer's Macs and servers. According to Square, the acquisition will allow it to serve a much broader customer base from a both geographical and support perspective.

Square Group's Darren King said: "This acquisition is the beginning of an expansion strategy for us, furthering our 30 per cent growth in business year on year. We have a large and established maintenance user base in London but now we can take this further.

"As well as offering remote diagnostic support, we will be basing field engineers outside of London to manage preventative and break-fix services. The target areas for us initially are Berkshire, Hertfordshire, Surrey, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Essex and Northamptonshire – all areas of poor dealer coverage due to the recent demise of several prominent Apple Resellers.”

Clive Bruton of Creatives Connect said: "We are very happy to be bringing Creatives Connect’s customers to Square Group. We feel the customers will benefit from the support of a larger group and that our specialist skills will be of interest to Square’s installed base.”
