Mac OS 8.x-9.x and OS X versions of the Stargazer’s Delight 6.0 astronomical desktop planetarium have been released.

The program offers views of the sky for any date and location on Earth.

All stars up to magnitude ten can be viewed – and are displayed with their names and distances from Earth in light-years. Other viewable entities include the Sun, the Moon, the planets, asteroids, and hundreds of deep-space objects such as galaxies, clusters, and nebulæ.

Stargazer’s Delight contains all the constellations and their boundaries; supplies information on each star; and shows the phases of the moon and the brightness of the planets.

Changes in version 6.0 include full OS X support, code revisions, and other small improvements and enhancements.

Stargazer’s Delight is available in English and German, and costs $29 for a single license.

Developer Ruedi Schmid has made a free evaluation copy of Stargazer’s Delight 6.0 available for download. This only shows the brightest stars from a limited number of locations. Registering unlocks the full catalogue of 260,000 stars.
