Apple plans to launch a wireless display for its desktop systems, according to a report from Taiwan's DigiTimes.

The report claims the display will resemble a Tablet PC in appearance and include a detachable keyboard but no battery. No claims are made that the product will offer handwriting recognition (already built into the OS in Inkwell) or screen input.

The new products will be produced by Quanta. Test production has begun, the report explains - revealing it will be a 15-inch device.

The competitively priced device will be aimed at the consumer market ,and be introduced at a competitive price.

The report reveals that combined shipments of 15-inch and 17-inch LCD iMacs now exceed 30,000 units per month, and that Apple will launch a 19-inch iMac.
