Roxio has released Toast 5 Titanium for Mac OS X Preview 2, the second public beta version of its industry-standard CD/DVD authoring solution. This beta requires Mac OS X 10.1, and is available only to registered users of Toast 5 Titanium. The beta expires February 1, 2002.

Roxio reinforces its support for Mac OS X in a statement: "Roxio is fully committed to supporting Apple by porting our award winning CD recording software to Mac OS X. Not all features of Toast 5 Titanium are currently supported in Preview 2, however, Roxio intends to continue enhancing Toast 5 Titanium for the Mac OS X."

In another OS X release, XLR8 has announced a new version of its PowerPC processor control software for Mac OS 7.6 to Mac OS X 10.1.

The software updates XLR8's Mach Speed Control 2.6.0. The update is required so users may run OS X 10.1 with caches enabled and Velocity Engine optimized.

Mach Speed Control 2.6 also adds thermal monitoring of G3 and G4 processors while running under OS X. It also improves stability and enhances support for Velocity Engine.

Mach Speed Control 3.0 will be released in October.
