Demand for flash memory as used in iPods, digital cameras and other devices has driven sales at Toshiba up 12 per cent.

The company revealed its first quarter results today.

Year-on-year the company saw its business move from a loss of 8.9 billion Yen in the year ago quarter to a 4 billion Yen net income in its first quarter this year.

Toshiba is building its fourth flash memory factory with SanDisk next month.
