Kensington has introduced the Expert Mouse Pro trackball.

The mouse features a technology called Direct Launch – this offers single-click access to URLs and applications. It has four programmable buttons and an integrated scroll-wheel.

The metallic-looking mouse is designed for both left- and right-handed users. The trackball is mounted on stainless steel bearings that have been designed to make the mouse "smooth and responsive, and to make it more durable".

Expert Mouse Pro ships with Kensington's MouseWorks software – which is used to program the buttons, each of which can be set to perform single-click shortcuts, or to create a menu of frequently used apps or series of tasks.

The Expert Mouse Pro – available from April – will cost £68 (excluding VAT). Kensington offers a five-year guarantee for the product. Mac users need Mac OS 8.1 and a USB port.
