Square Group expands

Following the acquisition of 4-Sight by London's Square Group, Chris Bird of 4-Sight is to join Square Group on Monday September 1.

Square Group director, Darren King, said: "Chris has gained significant experience during his time with 4-Sight and will bring that knowledge with him".

Square recently hired Chris Leat, formerly of Hermstedt UK's support team. He will spearhead product support for Square's 4-Sight products.

As an introductory offer to existing 4-Sight clients, the company is offering free telephone support until November 30, after this support will cost £149 per year. This includes telephone support and an ISDN card replacement service.

Rapid Group illuminates Photoshop

Rapid Group is sponsoring two special Photoshop seminars in London and Birmingham. Each seminar runs over two days, and the London lessons run at Apple HQ in Stockley Park, Uxbridge.

The two day seminars look at input and manipulation (day one) and digital presentations (day two).

The input and manipulation topic aims to develop a photographers knowledge of digital manipulation and retouching. It looks at software solutions for digital image organization, the correct use of Photoshop's Alpha channels and Illustrator's masking and image distortion controls.

Digital presentations will explore the different ways in which images can be presented to clients, including slide shows, DVDs and interactive PDFs.

The London events take place September 2 and 3, with events at Birmingham NEC's Hilton hotel on September 8 and 9. Admission costs £94 per day. Register here.

Computer Warehouse G5 deals

Computer Warehouse is is offering a host of rewards to anyone pre-ordering a Power Mac G5 from the company. Inducements include: a voucher for software up to £100, free Intego software (£44), and a free email account, for which the company usually charges £9.95.

Reflecting Apple's recent monitor price cuts, Computer Warehouse has announced its own new prices for Apple flat panel displays. The 17-inch monitor costs £465, the 20-inch £890 and the 23-inch Cinema HD Display £1,359. Prices exclude VAT.

iPods available here

With resellers claiming iPods to be in short supply in the UK, CoolMacs has a solution. The company has a limited supply of second generation 5GB, 10GB and 20GB Mac iPods. They cost £179, £219 and £319 respectively, including VAT. Shipping costs £10 per unit, all models carry Apple's one-year warranty.
