Axentra has announced its Net-Box Software Edition for Macs and PCs.

The software turns "virtually any PC or Mac Mini into a complete digital home server", the company claims.

The solution is descrubed as an all-in-one operating environment and software suite that turns a computer into a dedicated digital home server appliance with a unified interface, universal remote access, central file storage and sharing, back-up and security and personal hosting server capabilities.

Axentra's chief technology officer Eid Eid said: “Our software-only solution empowers consumers to choose their preferred hardware platform and configuration to install a dedicated home server that easily integrates into existing home networks".

The product will ship in the third quarter 2005 and cost £129 (excluding VAT).
