Apple Centre Reading, also known as Creative Graphics, is going into liquidation, channel reports claim.

Calls to the company's offices remain unanswered, and it is understood that former staff are already in process of taking on new appointments. Industry insiders indicate that Apple Computer is already removing the company's stock.

Creative Graphics had been in business for 20 years. A source close to the company said: "It's a shame, really. The market has changed, and it looks like the company couldn't keep up. It is a pity, as business in the UK is currently really good. We are taking a lot of orders."

Representatives of Creative Graphics were unavailable for comment.

This follows news of a merger of two of Avnet’s three operating groups – Avnet Applied Computing and Avnet Computer Marketing – into Avnet Technology Solutions. This will centralize its European logistics and warehousing operations in Avnet’s existing facility in Tongeren, Belgium.

Avnet Technology Solutions Europe president Ger Coppus said: “The decision to close the German warehouse was not an easy one in view of the 40-plus warehouse employees affected. But the difficult market environment forces us to reduce costs and establish profitability in all areas."
