In December 2004 almost 50 per cent of all UK 12-17-year-olds with Internet access visited a music Web site – and 7 per cent of all UK teens checked out iTunes.

Favourites included Yahoo Launch, AOL's music channel, iTunes, and MTV.

According to researchers Nielsen//NetRatings, Yahoo Launch and AOL claimed 12 per cent of all 12-17-year-olds, Universal – 8 per cent, iTunes – 7 per cent, and MTV – 6 per cent.

The male to female split was 52% and 48% respectively.
