MacSoft has released an update for Unreal Tournament 2003.

This update offers several improvements to the title – chief of which is a 25 per cent performance boost, MacSoft said. It also brings the game into line with Apple's Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther).

This has been achieved by the addition of lots of Altivec code and a rewrite of the entire sound subsystem. The company claims: "The result of this is performance improvements of 25 per cent or more over the original retail version, with some single-processor systems achieving an even more noticeable gain."

Built on the Unreal games engine, Unreal Tournament is a fast, high-tech gladiatorial contest set in the future that players can enjoy together online or using a network. It also offers a wide assortment of single-player levels.
