Keyspan is now shipping its USB 2.0 PCI card for Macintosh and Windows machines in the UK.

The card is distributed here by AM Micro and costs £49. It ships with a five-year warranty and adds five USB 2.0 ports to the Mac. It's compatible with the USB 2.0 standard and offers transmission speeds of up to 480Mbps – compared to the 12Mbps of USB 1.1 standard. USB 2.0 is also backward-compatible – it will support existing USB 1.1 devices at the normal speed of that standard.

"High sales-volumes of our USB products allow us to generate significant economies of scale," noted Mike Ridenhour, Keyspan president. "The Keyspan USB 2.0 Card is a case in point. "
